After playing small gigs in NYC and LA, Lorde, has quickly become a name to be recognized. Her hit song, "Royals," not only earned her the top spot (and the first woman in 17 years!) on Billboard's Alternative chart, but she also sold out the remaining shows of her US tour within minutes. Due to high demand, a second show was added at the Warsaw in Brooklyn after her Webster Hall show completely sold out.
So what's next for the New Zealand teen pop-phenom? Her song's not only receiving radio play across the country but she's dropping her debut album Pure Heroin via Lava/Republic Records on September 30. Her refreshing vocals and brass lyrics have quickly attracted music lovers of all kinds. Check out label mate's The Weeknd's remix of "Royals" below and make sure to grab The Love Club EP now available on iTunes.
Just a few months ago a free EP, The Love Club surfaced for free online and if you heard it, then you were for sure on the right track to finding pop music's newest sensation, Lorde. She already created a buzz for herself in her native New Zealand and now the 16-year-old is heading to NYC to play an intimate show at Le Poisson Rouge on August 6 at 8pm.
After staying low key on the music radar, the singer (born Ella Yelich-O'Connor) took her sassy lyrics to the next level with "Royals" which became an instant hit on the iTunes charts and garnered attention from bloggers and got radio play around the world. This August, Lorde will make her debut in New York and Los Angeles and for those who haven't been introduced to this New Zealand gem, brace yourself for some sensational tunes. Last night the Highline Ballroom was the spot to be at for NYLON Magazine's annual June/July Music Issue bash sponsored by Aloft Hotels and the guest of honor, was none other than the cover star, Avril Lavigne!
The party was hosted by NYLON's Editor-in-Chief Marvin Scott Jarrett and Publisher Jaclynn Jarrett. In true NYLON fashion, the party was a hit as guests enjoyed cocktails, a special performance by 2012 Project Aloft Star winners, HITS and rocked out during the headlining performance by our fave, Avril.Safe to say it was a pretty nostalgic night for us gals who have been fans since Avril's beginning. Wife beater tank and a tie, anyone?

Ladies, start freshening up your playlists and turntable skills because a big opportunity is about to hit the US. She Can DJ is a nationwide talent competition to find the country’s top female DJ/Producer. It's set to kick off in July bringing together the partnership of CBS Radio and Astralwerks, a label that is home to an impressive list of dance music's top talent such as Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, Hot Chip, Swedish House Mafia, and The Chemical Brothers.
In the wake of Depeche Mode’s most recent album, Delta Machine, one track in particular stands out. To be specific, "Soothe My Soul." Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello and Jacques Lu Cont have been called in to remix the album track which exclusively hits Beatport today, May 6th on Size Records.
There's no question that Angello and Lu Cont were the right guys to bring in their sizeable skills to the table for this remix. While the twosome remained true to the original version, the pair highlighted the track’s effortless dance floor possibilities.
