For anyone not in the know, this week is a big one for the digital world. New Yorkers are taking part in the annual Internet Week New York City. It’s a week for unveiling new tech, for awesome new internet businesses to get some exposure, and to explore what just might be in the internet’s future. Since the internet is an entire world of possibility, the event is a great mix of just about everything. From memes, to fashion, to food, the week is like a convention for just about every interest, focused, of course, on the internet.
The rumors have been spreading; the excitement building; the anticipation almost unbearable. Finally, after months of waiting, we get our first concrete fact about the imminent Sensation America Festival: launch party and official announcement coming May 31st. Where? Still undecided. How? Not sure yet. I guess the mists surrounding this are still thick, but hey, at least we have a date!
If you didn't read our last article introducing Sensation, I'll give you a short recap. Basically, it's by far the biggest and most extravagant dace party/concert/theater/production touring festival in the world. Starting every year in Amsterdam and traveling to more than ten different countries, Sensation sits firmly atop the EDM festival hierarchy. Once you see the intro video, you'll see why:
Pete Cashmore is one of the most interesting and inspiring success stories of the blogosphere. At just 26 years old he has accomplished more than people twice his age, and continues to innovate not only within the tech world but in the media business as a whole. He stands as a figure of originality and what can be accomplished when you strive for your goals. His journey from teenager to media mogul started back in Aberdeen, Scotland when he was just 13 years old and suffered complications after having his appendix removed. His condition left him bedridden and his only escape and connection to the outside world was through the internet. By the time he was nineteen he had launched Mashable.com. His little personal blog (he described as "not very good") went on to become one of the biggest most influential blogs in the world. We were lucky enough to get in on his Webby Session at Internet Week yesterday to hear his story and insights live. (And for those of you wondering, yes, he is just as tall and dreamy in person!)

Internet Week New York kicked off with a bang in SoHo Monday night. After a jam-packed day of exciting discussions including the Webby Sessions featuring Buzzfeed's Jonah Peretti and Jon Steinberg, and The Rise of the Anti-Lady Mag, techies from across the world put away their laptops and came together to celebrate at the headquarters' massive 8,000 square foot space. The opening party featured several open bars, live music, DJ sets, as well as numerous photo booths and free makeovers by Revlon. We'll call this the "tame" portion of the evening. The real wildness went down at a late night rager till 4am (that even we had to throw in the towel early for) at Tribeca Grand Hotel.
Angelica Salem is not your average 19-year-old girl. She is not only a recording artist, but also a current freshman student at Pace University. The upcoming pop sensation is majoring in commercial dance while preparing to debut her EP set for a release in late Spring. Last year, Angelica released We Rock the World, that attracted the ear of Andy Hilfiger as he was launching his line Andrew Charles. She was invited to perform at the collection unveiling. Angelica is currently working with some top-level producers such as Jump Smokers and Jerry Wonder, who you might recognize from working with big names like Akon, Justin Beiber, and Mary J. Blige. It's safe to say we can expect big things from this young lady! Luckily, Joonbug was able to snag an interview before she becomes too busy!

Sebastian Ingrosso, one part of Swedish House Mafia, is one of the biggest DJ/producers of our time. For more than a decade, Ingrosso has been spinning some of the most iconic EDM to ever hit the dance floor. Although his solo work can at times be overshadowed by his work with SHM, a supergroup if there ever was one, Ingrosso has quickly built a name for himself without his star studded freinds list.
Beginning his career all the way back in 1999 with Mega Records, Ingrosso quickly carved a niche for his sound. Both in his native Sweden and abroad, his debut album quickly made him a household name.
2012 is shaping up to be an unforgettable year in the celebration of fashion. Definitive exhibitions are popping up all over the globe honoring fashion greats both past and present. As we awe over the recently opened Schiaparelli and Prada exhibit at The Metropolitan, our style savvy counterparts across the pond are lining up for an equally exciting view inside the heritage of Hermes. Leather Forever examines the brand’s love affair with the luxury material as they showcase their unique design and craftsmanship that makes this year’s 175th anniversary possible.
For those unaware, Maurice Sendak passed away last week at the age of 83. The legendary author and illustrator is the creator of Where the Wild Things Are, which touched the lives of generations and generations of children world-wide. If Where the Wild Things Are wasn’t a part of your childhood experience, though, you can bet that Sendak influenced it in other ways. Maurice Sendak was a major player in creating children’s programming on T.V. Before the birth of PBS there was no real children’s programming, much less educational children’s programming. Sendak was a member of National Board of Advisors of the Children’s Television Workshop in its early days and helped the development of what we know as Sesame Street.
