Nine times out of ten I bet you find something you like. Indie music producers and house DJs are looking for ways to get noticed. They are using their skills to “mash up” hip songs to make an ultimate mix! Some might think of it as stealing someone's music and getting credit for it, but that’s not the case. If anything they are complementing the artist by choosing to use their music in their mix.

Instead of searching for new music, people are starting to search for their favorite tracks with a twist; in other words a mashup or a remix! A combination of your favorite hits mashed up into one ultimate house track might just arouse those ears of yours. Life in Color Festival

Life in Color, formerly known as Dayglow, announced the premier of Life in Color Festival, which will be held Saturday, September 21st in our nation’s capital. The “world’s largest paint party” just got bigger; in the past, Life in Color and Dayglow were solely nighttime events. However, LIC Festival will “be an all day and night event with multiple stages” and more paint, serving as their largest production to date. It is likely that the festival will be held at RFK Stadium, where Life in Color has been hosted in the past. If you’re going to be in the DMV area late September, this is surely going to be an event that you won’t want to miss. Giuseppe Ottaviani Gives 'Magenta' A Whole New Meaning

At the end of last decade, former Nu-Nrg-ist Giuseppe Ottaviani released his freshman solo album GO! Ottaviani now prepares to release his much anticipated album Magenta that is bound to color your mind. Ottaviani has teamed up with fellow tranceologists Ferry Corsten and Aly & Fila, and has the support from vocalists that will captivate your hearts. Eric Lumiere, Audrey Gallagher, Linnea Schössow, Lo-Fi Sugar and Seri are just some that make up the stellar voices that will be heard on Magenta. After four full years in the perfecting, the trance kingpin is ready to wow again. Prepare as the color 'magenta' takes on a whole new definition.

“The color magenta represents universal love at its highest level. The album’s concept is exactly that. Music intended to promote the very same essence the color does,” says Giuseppe on his highly anticipated album.

Magenta is harmony, stimulates spirituality, is non-conformist, conveys balance, and is universal. Just announced: Although he has one more show at Tao Las Vegas before completing the 'It's You, It's Me Redux' tour, Kaskade will be visiting 4 select cities for round two.

At the beginning of April, Ryan Raddon, better known as Kaskade, announced that he would be journeying to nine cities in the US on the ‘It’s You, It’s Me Redux’ tour. Ten years ago, he released his breakthrough album entitled “It’s You, It’s Me,” which showed the world just how much talent he has to offer. Ryan relayed in his Tumblr post how deep in debt he and his wife were at the time, and that his entire life depended on the make or break of this album. He wrote, “I knew that this was my last shot, and that if people didn’t find it, if this album didn’t stick, I’d have to hang it up and move on.”

The purpose of the ‘It’s You, It’s Me Redux’ tour was to commemorate the ten-year anniversary of the release of said album. However, there was a catch. Unlike his ‘Freaks of Nature’ tour last summer, Ryan’s plan was to reconnect with his roots and where both he and dance music were ten years ago. Forget stadiums and large clubs; the idea he had in mind was to play only at venues with a capacity between 200 and 300 people, max. He said, “these are the clubs I played at back in the day. It’s going to be intimate. It’s going to be deep.” For Kaskade, this was a time in his life that he reminisces fondly, and as fans, he instilled faith in us that some DJs really do care about their fans.

Kaskade never fails to surprise us. Admit it, you love him, and not just because he is one of the most influential producers and DJs in the scene, but because he shows us the same amount of love that we give to him. Make sure you set reminders on your phone, write notes on your hand or do whatever it takes to remember to buy pre-sale tickets on June 5th at noon local venue time. Be Part of the Night—Arrive in White

In 2012, Sensation finally made its US debut at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Yesterday, they posted a video on YouTube promoting the return of “the world’s leading dance event” this upcoming fall. After having sold out its two back-to-back shows almost immediately last year, Sensation will be touring in Miami, San Francisco, New York, and Las Vegas. It is “a global event uniting millions of people dressed in white…connected through music…a mind blowing show.” Needless to say, Sensation will be covering its bases in 2013 by strategically visiting four of the biggest party cities in America.

Sensation is an indoor EDM show that originated in the Netherlands and is hosted by ID&T, a Dutch entertainment group founded in the early '90s. Traveling all across Europe to countries such as Poland, Serbia and Belgium, Sensation expanded in 2012 to the US and a number of countries in Asia. While in the past Sensation strictly featured trance only, it has evolved into a more house music event. Last year, some names on Sensation’s lineup included Fedde le Grand, Nic Fanciulli, Mark Knight, and Danny Tenaglia. The greatest aspect about Sensation was that it also served as a fundraiser: a dollar of each ticket sold was donated to Dance4Life, an organization that focuses its attention on HIV and AIDS prevention. Dance4Life was founded in 2003 by the Victoria’s Secret Angel, Doutzen Kroes, and is headquartered in Amsterdam.

The makers of Sensation ask that fans wear white to their shows, and here’s why. The brother of Duncan Stutterheim, Sensation’s CEO, died just after its first year of going live. In response, Duncan asked friends to wear white in tribute. Through word of mouth, Stutterheim’s request spread and nearly 40 percent of guests arrived in white; the following year, almost all guests wore white. From then on, the dress code became mandatory and this clearly manifests how powerful a connection there is between music and people. Duncan once commented, “That’s the philosophy, engaging thousands of people together who are united in white.” Music really does form a tight-knit community, and common dress helps to reinforce the common goal of partying (in a classy way, of course). The décor inside the venue is also white, which strengthens the underlying meaning of the color at Sensation.

Sensation is so promising in that it offers an awe-inspiring experience in a way that no other dance music event in America has provided. In 2012, Sensation left almost each of its 15,000 guests in emotional catharsis. Those that were lucky enough to attend last year will remember the event forever, and now even more fans in the US are given the opportunity to “be part of the night—[and] arrive in white.”

Bad Week for EDM Fans

For some reason, EDM fans have been having a terrible week as it just so happens that a lot of awful news has been dropped, one story after the other. Yesterday evening, Moonrise Festival announced on its Facebook page its cancellation just three weeks prior to the event. Fans, of course, were outraged particularly after their bold statement the day before that the “rumors” of Moonrise’s cancellation were absolutely not true. Fans accused Steez Promo, the promotion company behind Moonrise Festival, of being completely unprofessional in the way they handled the unfortunate situation. Many feel as though they should not have been lied to, as airfare and hotel costs will not be refunded. You can read their announcement in the slideshow below.

Then, we found out that Paris Hilton is making yet another attempt at her music career. Perhaps it wasn’t bad enough to painfully watch her take photos of herself in Pacha’s DJ booth back in 2011 when she was still supposedly dating Afrojack. News broke yesterday that Hilton signed a deal with Cash Money Records to work with Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj and this time around, she plans on producing real “house music.” Can she just go away already?

Finally, Feed Me tweeted last night that he plans on halting his live performances, at least temporarily come this fall. He feels that this is “not what [he] is supposed to be doing” and that DJing is “not art.” Does DJing necessarily inhibit one’s ability to be creative, or does the unique relationship between the DJ and his fans open doors to his imagination? A young man with shaggy hair, dressed in a collared paisley button-down and multiple beaded necklaces with a peaceful and “no destruction” attitude walks by you with a cool grin…no, this is not a scene from a Woodstock or Haight-Ashbury documentary, but rather a description of the lead-singer of the psychedelic indie-rock band, Foxygen. The band formed in California in 2005 when Sam France and guitarist/keyboardist Jonathan Rado were just 15 years old playing some local gigs and mainly making appearances at their high school. At that time, The Beatles, other 1960s artists, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre were their main influences.

Their first album, “Jurassic Explosion Philippic,” released in 2007, was recorded when the guys were just 15 years old. In previous interviews, Rado has called this album a “30-track space opera,” and anyone who has listened to their style knows the accuracy of that statement. A few years later in 2012, their second full-length album, “Take The Kids Off Broadway” was released followed by “We are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic” this past January. The singles “Shuggie,” “No Destruction,” and “San Francisco” and the religious-infused “On Blue Mountain” are the more well known and aired from the band.

Foxygen has been compared to the sounds and feelings from The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and in general, a throwback to the political and peaceful lyrics and trippy psychedelic vibes from an bygone era. There are moments when watching live performances by France where his wide, spaced-out eyes and gyrating nature can almost appear spooky but there is, at the same time, a complete wash of kind-heartedness, reminiscent of someone protesting for peace and handing out flowers decades ago in a time of turmoil. These guys are certainly part of the flower-child music of our generation. If you haven’t downloaded their album yet, get on it, because warmer days are here and these are all around cool, chill dudes who you’re going to totally want to hang with all summer long.

DJ REVOLVR Premiers Florence + The Machine Remix

DJ REVOLVR is a Las Vegas-based DJ and music producer that has been spinning since 2004. This California native has been able to take different unique tricks in DJing and producing, and combine them into his own innovative way to create highly memorizing music. He has been able to make a name for himself in both Sacramento and Las Vegas with his specific technique, and continues to impress audiences with his style.

On Monday, May 22nd, DJ REVOLVR released an interesting spin to an already great song. Taking the track “Spectrum,” by Florence + The Machine, he provides his unique sense of production and his innovative style to have listeners breaking their replay buttons on their iPods. The original song was already stunning prior to the DJ REVOLVR house remix. Its combination of electrified production and spine-tingling vocals from the highly talented Florence Welch made the original incredible.

The remix contains the signature “Say My Name” vocals, combined with his jumpy beat and catchy drops. If the original didn’t have you dancing and singing along to the lyrics, then this one will most definitely have listeners jumping out of their seats and chanting the lyrics along with the powerful voice of Florence Welch. The beautiful arrangements of electronic sound, clever drops, and a heavy bass mix with the ear shattering vocals makes this a must-have on your playlist and even in the hottest clubs and dance floors. DeadMau5 and Kill the Noise Preview Collaboration

Trying something new can create two different scenarios. It can end up as a failed attempt that can ultimately ruin someone’s reputation and reputability to the point that their name is tainted by that single instance. Or it can actually end up on the opposite end of the spectrum, making it so critically and commercial acclaimed that it could boost a person’s notability overnight. Although finding fame is already a mission that has been far accomplished by world famous DJ and producer Joel Zimmerman aka DeadMau5, his hunger for something new still seems unfulfilled as he heads into the studio with an interesting choice for a collaborator.

Grammy-nominated artist DeadMau5 has seen a wide stream of success in the past few years. His albums have seen both commercial and critical success, he has won countless awards, he has been featured in video games, and his signature mouse helmet is a recognizable figure from all corners of the world. With this track record, some artist would just take a break and enjoy their hard-earned success, but DeadMau5 looks to put another achievement in his long list of accomplishments with his new collaboration with Kill the Noise.

Although they are housed in the same genre, both producers contain various styles that allow their music to have a distinct difference between each other. DeadMua5 is famous for blending beautiful electronic arrangements with mind-numbing melodies, while Kill the Noise uses hard-hitting and glitch induced basses. Still, these two are true masters of their art, and they bring it all to the table with their new upcoming release cleverly titled “KilltheMau5.” The track has not been fully releases as of yet, but DeadMau5 has released a preview on his Soundcloud page for his fans to listen to and enjoy. It contains both styles that were able to give both producers their fame. DeadMau5’s skilled electronic sensibility combines almost flawlessly with Kill the Noise’s signature basses. Although there is no clear release date for the full song, the sample contains amazing production value that has not yet been heard within the genre. This shows potential to be a revolutionary track, and it is sure to have fans of both producers highly satisfied.

EDC Looks to Bring Down the House

Memorial Day Weekend is the official start to summer, so why not bring in summer with one of the biggest festivals that EDM has to offer?
