Alibi Bar and Lounge is located inside Boston’s Liberty Hotel, an upscale and luxurious hotel that was once housed the old Charles Street Jail. Alibi's atmosphere parallels that of its Beacon Hill neighborhood: chic, trendy, and exciting. During the early evening, don’t be surprised if you see working professionals, especially doctors from Mass General, stop by for an after work pick-me-up. But on weekends, Boston’s gorgeous, fabulous, and privileged crowd head over to embrace Alibi’s sultry and sexy atmosphere.

Alibi serves bar bites such as White Truffle Parmesan Fries, Spring Rolls, and specialty pizzas, all of which are delivered from sister restaurant Harvard Gardens. Alibi’s famed signature cocktails like Rogue Behavior, The Green Mile, and Jail Bait are all cleverly named in reference to building's jail history. But if the staff’s ability to come up with witty titles does not impress you, the quality and strength of the drinks will because after taking a sip, you’ll realize they are well worth the price

Ironically, Alibi is located in what used to be the drunk tank of the old Charles Street Jail. As soon as you walk through the main doors of Alibi Bar and Lounge, you’ll be amazed at how well-restored and intact all the original brick-work and jail cells are. Amongst the large leather couches are smaller tables inside the nooks and crannies of Alibi, which along with dim lighting is perfect for couples who want to sit in an intimate and romantic setting, away from the partying crowd. During the warm summer evenings, Alibi opens up the back patio, which almost doubles the capacity and offers a beautiful view of the historic Beacon Hill district.

At any time, people will be surrounded by celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Bill Gates, Mick Jagger, Johnny Cash, and Jane Fonda, well at least by their mug shots, which offer a tongue in cheek humor at the building’s old function as a jail. However, notable names such as Kate Hudson, Larry David, Kevin James, Eva Mendez, Paris Hilton, Luke Wilson, and Senator John Kerry have all stepped inside of Alibi’s brick walls for a drink.
