Las Vegas pulled a Titanic, sweeping this week's 2010 Nightclub & Bar Awards. Vegas' sinful sanctuaries took home all of the big wins and walked away with seven of the Top 10 sports and eleven of the Top 15!
There were more than 235 entries competing in fourteen categories at the 25th annual Awards sponsored by the magazine Nightclub & Bar. A panel of judges each had to select their top three choices from the lists which they submitted and were then relegated into the categories. There will be an official ceremony at Lavo in the Palazzo on March 5 to honor the winners.
Among the victors were Victor Drai and his managing partners Jesse and Cy Waits, who won both New Club of the Year and Mega Club of the Year for XS in Encore. Their other venture Tryst, located in the adjoining Wynn, ranked fifth in the Top 100 countdown. While fifth out of 100 may seem like a huge win, the club has moved three spots down from their runner-up position last year, making the ranking bittersweet.
Drai's other club, Drai's After Hours in Bill's Gamblin' Hall, on the other hand was named No. 16, which is six spots higher than last year.
Paul Oakenfold picked up an award as Resident DJ of the Year for his weekly Perfecto Vegas at Rain. Ultra Lounge of the Year went to Blush at the Wynn and George Maloof must be happy with the two awards he received with The N9NE Group properties at the Palms.
Best Single Promotion of the Year went to the Midsummer Night's Dream party at the Palms pool while Ongoing Promotion of the Year went to Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel.
The biggest win for Vegas though has to be Tao at The Venetian, which was honored as the title of Nightclub of the Year.
Owners Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperberg said of winning, "We are thrilled that Tao has received this award and are honored to be recognized among such a large field of competitors for whom we have a great deal of respect."
