New Barneys.com is Our New Favorite

While the popular Madison Avenue location gets a makeover that benefits in-store shoppers, those who prefer to shop at the click of a finger can now reap the benefits of the store’s newly revamped e-commerce site as well. Just launched on Monday, Barneys.com is full of consumer-friendly features designed to create a “completely dynamic and very emotional experience.”

Secondary to brick and mortar locations in terms of revenue, the e-commerce site is the fastest growing channel and one Barneys sees opportunity to improve and capitalize on for future growth. It’s part of a grand strategic overhaul spearheaded by Barneys CEO Mark Lee. By creating a cleaner aesthetic to highlight featured merchandise, optimizing navigation, and simplifying the online shopping process for registered customers, Barneys hopes to engage loyal online consumers like never before.

Haute Off the Press: Versace Vixen for F/W ‘12

As we saw during February’s Fashion Week, Versace’s fall/winter 2012/2013 collection is filled with leather, studs, and fishnet stockings. The designs along with the harsh bang-lines and cat eye makeup made for a dark, rocker-chic show, and as far as their ad campaign goes, they have just bumped that ambiance up another couple of notches. The combination of model melancholy brilliantly expressed by Elza Luijendijk, photography work by the ultimate duo- Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and Joe McKenna’s styling, made for a dark, gothic-chic ad campaign.

Memorial Day weekend is almost here and with it comes parties, barbecues, beach time, and lots, and lots, of fun activities. Now we just need to figure out what to wear! Whether you're hitting the Hamptons, Cape Cod, or Miami you'll need great style. Here are a few great summery essentials we love that include trends of the season from floral prints, to white, bright, and color blocking. It’s time to start packin’!

Clutch or Bag- That is the question!

Whether it is an all weekend event, or a couple hours for the day, make your choice of handbag accordingly. We love these summery styles as the blue and white stripe clutch by Rag & Bone shows a little nautical spirit, and Club Monaco’s Goldie Moroccan Bag has that beachy feel to it with the wicker weave and the gold-dipped bottom.

TRENDTASTIC Louis Vuitton S/S 2012
Trending: The White Out

We love to wear white during the summer; it’s light, it’s easy, and it makes us look bronzed. Perhaps that’s why so many designers incorporated the colorless trend into their S/S 2012 collections. Here are some of our favorite looks from the runways and how to achieve them this summer.

A word of advice: make sure you have a Tide-To-Go pen with you when wearing these looks!

Do It Yourself: Ombre Denim Shorts

As we posted earlier this week, the ombre trend is still going strong. A comfortable and easy way to incorporate the trend into your summer wardrobe is through your trusty denim cutoffs. We love Siwy’s Camilla Ombre Cutoff Shorts and Genetic Denim’s Ivy Cutoff Shorts.

Trending: Graphic Totes Galore

Graphic prints and patterns are always a great way to add some spunk to your style. They have been showing up on a multitude of frocks, from skater/snowboarder T’s, to denim, to chic dresses, and our current favorite, accessories. We are loving the look of the funky, graphic totes for summer and their ability to bring an outfit to life. With the bold statement that a bright, graphic bag makes, an otherwise plain outfit can really gain some great character. Mix them with other prints and patterns for a mad fad look, or go the simplistic route with black or white from head-to-toe, and they'll make a real pop on your ‘blank canvas’ ensemble.

Carine's in the Spotlight...and on the Big Screen!

Adding to the constant comparison of two great editorial counterparts, new details have surfaced on the upcoming documentary (fashumentary?) starring Carine Roitfeld. Raising our suspicions that the feature will be an edgier version of Anna Wintour’s September Issue, director Fabien Constant (Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton) has been shadowing Roitfeld day to day as her “September issue” debut of CR Fashion Book nears. Yes, that means behind the scenes production of the issue, its sure-to-be exciting launch, and undoubtedly juicy tidbits from Carine’s personal life thanks to “unprecedented [directorial] access.” What an exciting follow up to Constant’s mini-doc for W Magazine featuring Roitfeld at couture fashion week last year!
