Compared to some of the other exhibitions held as part of The LA Fashion Market at the California Market Centre in Downtown LA, the 'Focus Apparel and Accessories" show, was a bit on the tiny side. But we were undeterred; convinced we would find some 'stand out' designs amongst the small collection of stands. Thankfully we did.
The words 'Swedish' and 'Vintage' are not words that we usually associate with stand out pieces of jewellery. But Lotta Djoussou , the Paris based designer, had some to die for pieces. The inspiration for the jewellery, which has a vintage feel, comes from the pair's diverse cultural backgrounds: Lotta Andersson, the designer is Swedish and Clement Djossou's, the silversmith, is African. Both met whilst in Japan and sharing a mutual passion for design, started up the firm.
All items are crafted by hand using antique finished brass and 925 sterling silver, with pieces ranging from a single chunky acorn on a brass chain to a four inch bird of paradise, hanging on on a delicate silver thread. Silver, 2.5 inch long 'Pea Pod' earrings were particularly unusual and quirky, hence DESIRABLE. And a chunky, silver, swallow bird cuff, added detail to our dainty wrists.
