Good news, fellow spa-goers! Lapis Spa at the Fontainebleau is extending their Miami Spa Month specials through the month of September to help you survive the last of the Summer heat.

I recommend the three treatment package which includes a 30 minute mineral soak and scrub, a 25 minute facial and a pedicure for $99.

You'll start with a few minutes in the eucalyptus steam room. An attendant will then lead you to the mineral soaking tubs. The water is hot and brimming with bubbles. She'll pour in a cup of mineral salts before you immerse yourself.

Next to you is a tray containing a glass of ice water and a plate of juicy, fresh fruit to much on including strawberries, pineapple and orange slices. Next to that is a dish with a towel, some cucumber slices and ice cubes on it to cool and calm your face. There is some nice, natural light coming through the highest windows so you can watch the clouds float by, in between cucumber/cold towel treatments, of course.

After about 20 minutes in the tub, the attendant hands you a small jar of body scrub and you get to pick one of the showers around the corner. The water feels like a gentle waterfall and the sweet-smelling scrub is a great exfoliant. Dry off with one of their tan colored towels and head back to the lounge to wait for my next treatment.

On the second floor, a facialist will lead you down a dim hallway to a small room. The bed inside is very comfy and fully adjustable. She spends almost a half hour cleansing, exfoliating and massaging your neck and face. Lapis uses all natural products with essential oils and aromatherapy.

Back downstairs, you'll head out of Lapis to the Salon for your pedicure. Pick out your preferred OPI nail color and wait in the lounge with a giant black and white portrait of a mer-model. There are several pedicure stations and the area is very clean. All the tools are taken from sterilized packaging and everything else is single use. All the pedi basics are covered from a bubbling footbath to cleaning, filing, cuticle shaping, exfoliating, (very brief) massaging to finishing up with a fine polish. The techs are very friendly and efficient and you get to keep the plastic flip flops and foot file.

With your spa package, you'll get access to all of the water areas and pools, so if decide to indulge yourself at Lapis, I recommend bringing a friend or two and making a day of it.
