The President of South Africa Joseph Zuma released a statement earlier today confirming the rumors that Nelson Mandela, peace activist and the first black president of South Africa, has passed away. He was 95 years old.
World leaders, politicians, and other prominent people have expressed their admiration and condolences at the passing at one of the most influential figures of peaceful resistance in the 20th Century. Said British Prime Minister David Cameron via Twitter: "A great light has gone out in the world. Nelson Mandela was a hero of our time. I've asked for the flag at [Number] 10 [Downing] to be flown at half mast."
Actress Amanda Bynes has completed inpatient treatment and is back living with her parents. She was first hospitalized in July and put on a 5150 psychiatric hold after starting a fire in a driveway and was then moved to a rehab facility for treatment.
Her family’s lawyer Tamar Arminak stated to People Magazine, “Amanda and her entire family would like to thank everyone who's contacted them with good thoughts and wishes for Amanda's recovery” and that "Amanda has completed her inpatient rehabilitation and she's feeling better every day."
Beyonce is known for always giving fans a good show. Even without an album attached to it, she has been able to sell out her current Mrs. Carter world tour because fans know they're in for a good time. However, there was not a dry eye in LA's Staples Center on Tuesday when the singer dedicated two songs to the actor, Paul Walker.
"I dedicate these songs to Paul Walker," she said to the audience before singing her rendition of "I Will Always Love You." She then performed the equally touching song, "Halo."

There was a time in history when female punk bands ruled the world. Angsty rebel yells from women in bands like Bikini Kill, Hole, and Siouxsie and the Banshees were punk music’s secret weapon- tackling topics on sexuality, feminism, radicalism, etc.
The bristling attitudes that were pioneered from female punk bands set the groundwork for pop-punk and mainstream-pop female artists alike to come out tongues wagging, and gyrating on silver poles-proudly- in the magazines and on TV. One frontwoman in particular possessed the staying power to put the unbridled “fuck-all” attitude back on the map.
The world was shocked and saddened when the news about Paul Walker's tragic death broke this past Saturday, November 30. Today, December 3, the L.A County Coroner's office released the cause of death in the fatal car crash, stating that the late actor, 40, who was in the passenger's seat of the car, died as a result of the combination of traumatic and thermal injuries, while the driver, Roger Rodas, died of numerous traumatic injuries.
What this tells us is that the impact of the crash alone is not what killed Walker. The various horrors that took place, such as the fire that followed, are to blame..
Earlier this week, Cipriani Wall Street played host to the 23rd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards. Guests and celebrities alike enjoyed cocktails provided by Russian Standard Vodka. The awards featured seven categories; juries of filmmakers determined the winners, while moviegoers chose the winner of the audience award. During the ceremony, Steve Buscemi gave a heartfelt tribute to renowned actor James Gandolfini. Ethan Hawke and Julie Dempley also presented Richard Linklater with a tribute, while Lee Daniels paid tribute to Forest Whitaker. Other presenters at the awards included Mayor Bloomberg, Rashida Jones, Katheryn Hahn, Shailene Woodley and Jared Leto. The awards were hosted by comedian Nick Kroll.
David O Russell’s new film American Hustle hasn’t opened in theaters yet but it’s already doing some serious work towards enticing votes from Academy Award members. The film has been generating a lot of media buzz and today it received top awards from the New York Film Critics Circle. In addition to being named the best picture of the year, the film is also the beneficiary of the awards for best screenplay (David O’Russell and Eric Singer) and best supporting actress (Jennifer Lawrence).
Actress Maria Bello recently wrote an essay on The New York Times where she “came out” of the closet (sort of) and shared how she felt about her “modern family”. In her essay she told the story of how her son Jackson had asked her if she was in a romantic relationship with someone and she had to confess to him that, not only was she involved with someone, but that person also happened to be her close female friend Clare Munn. In the same essay she then went on to say how her relationship with Clare had evolved from friendship and how she views partnership.
Singer Rita Ora, who is signed to Jay Z's Roc Nation label is cast in the highly anticpated Fifty Shades of Grey movie. She has been cast as Mia--Christian's adopted sister.

Will Ferrell anchored the KXMB evening news in Bismarck, North Dakota as his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy on November 30. Ferrell stayed in character throughout the newscast as he co-anchored alongside Amber Schatz, who could hardly keep a straight face.
Ferrell, as Burgundy, did stray from the news a couple of times such as leaning in to Schatz’s shot as she was reading the news and asking her if she was married. Some of the stories the actor covered in the newscast included children visiting with Santa Claus and firefighters responding to a trash fire in a Sam’s Club parking lot.
