A guest on The Late Show last week, Alec Baldwin had a response ready when David Letterman asked him if he had any plans to expand his family. The 30 Rock star joked* that he was “thinking about getting a Filipino mail-order bride at this point... or a Russian one.” The studio audience thought this was funny.^ So did David Letterman. Not so much Philippine senator Ramon Revilla.
Blasting Baldwin for the “arrogant” remark, Revilla said that,
“Being a celebrity, Baldwin should be more prudent in issuing statements. And he must know what he is talking about. Apparently, he is not aware that here in the Philippines we don't tolerate mail order bride schemes”
Revilla, a former movie star himself, also warned that Baldwin had better stay away from the Philippines. In his words,
“Let him try to come to the Philippines and he'll see mayhem.”
Nice one, Alec. Although I guess he’s lucky he didn’t piss off the Russians.
* Presumably. But it is Alec Baldwin . . .
^ Or, at least, pretended to.
