Could it be? Imagine how Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, & Samantha were in their high-school/college years?
Mum's the word on a possible reboot of the Sex & the City franchise. Rumors and talks have been going on (for what seems like forever) of a new film, but this time, it will supposedly serve as a flashback piece that documents the early days of our favorite NYC ladies. The alleged plotlines would come from the prequel novels of writer/creator Candace Bushnell: "The Carrie Diaries," and "Summer in the City."
Kim Cattrall, who's famously played the man-eating Samantha, had already expressed her doubts in the past of whether or not a third movie was to be added in the mix. Especially since the second one was a bit on the disappointing side. Since the endless gossip surrounding a potential prequel will not leave the minds (and hopes!) of fans everywhere, maybe the constant plea for a new movie will persuade makers to give it another go?
Certain media outlets claim that casting for the main characters have already been done! Earlier reports state Gossip Girl star Blake Lively will play the lead, but now sources are saying she is chosen to play young Samantha Jones instead. Actress/singer Selena Gomez has been said to take over the role of a young Charlotte York and Nancy Drew star Emma Roberts was picked to play a young (hopefully still cynical) Miranda Hobbes. And of course, word on the street is, new actress Elizabeth Olsen will fill in the Manolo Blahniks of young protagonist Carrie Bradshaw. You read that correctly, she is the little sister of millionaire twins Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen!
If this happens, would you be in the theaters to watch? If yes, but you aren't a fan of the supposed casting choices, who are YOUR picks to play the foursome as teenagers? Personally, Glee star Lea Michele could probably do the part of princess-y Charlotte better. I mean, it's weird enough to see pictures of Disney queen Selena Gomez get a little too friendly with boyfriend Justin Bieber. If she stars in this rumored prequel (surely to be R-rated), she will never hear the end of it from those crazy Bieber fans.
