The Academy Award winner’s next starring role won't be in a feature film, rather on television. Cruz will be making an appearance in nationwide public service announcements for Saks' Key to the Cure Campaign wearing limited-edition t-shirts designed by Carolina Herrera. The stylish tees were created in an effort to raise awareness for women’s cancer research. Herrera’s designs don a map of the world with teeny, tiny hearts scattered across it.
Starting out Breast Cancer Awareness month on the right foot, the public will have access to these t-shirts at any Saks Fifth Avenue and Off 5th store locations as well as their webstore for just $35. The proceeds made from selling the shirts will all benefit the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s (EIF) Women’s Cancer Research Fund. And as the month is filled with different activities and events associated with the cause, Caronlina’s contribution doesn’t end there. The designer will also be hosting a meet-and-greet at Saks’ flagship NYC store during the weekend of October 18th.
Cancer is a disease that has or will affect us all at least once in our lifetime; whether it is an unfortunate case that we have to fight ourselves, or one that our loved one’s battle. Herrera explained in WWD, “It is important to work all together because this disease goes everywhere in the world, and every family knows someone who has had a problem with it…If we get together to raise money for them, it works.”
Since Saks started this campaign 14 years ago, they have raised $31 million. The PSA will be viewable starting in September, however, stay tuned to hear more about this amazing campaign and ways in which you can help!
