About Harboring Hearts:
Harboring Hearts is a 501(c)3 public charity co-founded in 2009 by Michelle Javian and Yuki Kotani, who connected over a similar struggles of watching a father battle severe heart disease. From their firsthand experiences, Michelle and Yuki realized the importance of providing not only a critical support network for the families of loved ones receiving cardiac treatment, but comfortable housing for them to stay in throughout the treatments as well. Out of these realized needs grew Harboring Hearts, a charity with a mission to provide heart patients and their families with support through a home-like haven and a nurturing community of resources. Harboring Hearts continues to be the only housing organization created specifically for and by heart patients and their families. Since its creation, this charity has offered support to hundreds of people across the country, acting as a resource to which families in need can turn to when confronting the difficult reality of heart disease. In 2012, the many people working behind Harboring Hearts plan to expand the charity's impact on the cardiac community, working closely with several hospitals and medical communities to identify need-based families.
