Recently, Joonbug was able to take part in a special gathering held to show appreciation for our troops, veterans and heroes that ensure the world we live in is a safe & better place for us all.

Operation First Response  presents Journey To Serve - NYC Heroes Weekend (J2SNYC) in collaboration with Benjamin Steakhouse was a special event to celebrate wounded soldiers bravery and accomplishments while presently serving or having served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

We were able to chat with members of the  U.S. Armed Forces and their families & guests. The speech given by Agostino von Hassell - Military historian, author and consultant, was extremely interesting and inspirational. NYPD Emerald Society Pipers proudly played service anthems and marches. Singer, songwriter John Kano also sang hit tunes from his album, "Love is Forever." We also spoke with Molly Gonzalez the New York representative of Operation First Response as she shared how each one of us can help show support.

The mission of Operation First Response, Inc (OFR) is to serve all branches of our nation's Wounded Heroes and their families with personal and financial needs. Services are provided from the onset of injuries or illness, throughout their recovery period and along their journey from military life to the civilian world. Financial aid varies as each case is based on individual needs ranging from rent, utilities, vehicle payments, groceries, clothing, and travel expenses.

It truly was a memorable experience to sit amongst our brave heroes. Did you know over 45,000 service members have been wounded in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.
