As everyone is gearing up for what will be another season of celebrating fashion, New York City leaders are pulling out all the big guns, and boast that this year will be "one to remember." Mayor Michael Bloomberg teamed up with a long list of celebrities, artists, designer retailers, and fashion icons to produce a series of events that will take place Thursday September 8th, 2011 [Note: Dates and Times may differ for some locations] throughout NYC between 6:00pm- 11:00pm.
According to the Official Web page for Fashion's Night Out, proceeds from Thursday night will go towards the New York AIDS Fund. For those of you on a budget here is some good news: The all-new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta will be providing a free cab service between Midtown Manhattan and Soho during 5:00pm-12:00am for shoppers who present proof of receipt from any of the participating registered Fashions Night Out retail locations.
As young professionals in the city, we genuinely appreciate when our favorite designers collaborate with our favorite stores, in our favorite price range (read: affordable)! Recent collabs have included Lanvin for H&M, Rodarte for Target, and Julian Louie for Aldo. Next up for chic style that won’t break the bank, Karl Lagerfeld for Macy’s, debuting exactly one week from today!
Karl Lagerfeld is no novice to collaborations for the masses. He was the first luxury designer to create a capsule collection for H&M and worked with Magnum Ice Cream earlier this year as the director for their ad campaign starring Rachel Bilson. Lagerfeld’s will be the third designer collaboration for Macy’s ‘Impulse’ department this year, following successful partnerships with Kinder Aggugini and then Matthew Williamson. The ad campaign, featuring Coco Rocha, has been creating buzz since spring and until the collection’s preview in SoHo this month, limited images of the line had been available. The campaign setting? His personal Parisian library where the multi-talented Kaiser photographed Rocha himself.
The approaching change in season has us eager to break out our fall fashion favorites and spice up our wardrobe. But as the temperatures drop and we can be assured our make up is not going to melt off our faces by 10 am, it’s the perfect time to shake up your beauty routine too! Put aside those old standbys and treat yourself to something different. A new favorite by far is Benefit’s They’re Real! mascara. The newest addition to the Benefit beauty fleet They’re Real! is equipped with a brand new wand design that includes short and long, horizontal and verticle bristles to separate each lash with a flawless coat of mascara. Bristles on the end of the brush make application to your smallest lashes a breeze (without blinding yourself!). An alternative to Benefit's well-know BADgal Lash mascara, this product specializes in defining and lengthening and leaves lashes with a jet-black glossy finish.
Jessica Simpson will be at Macy's Herald Square tonight from 7:30-9:30! Stop by, Tweet about it, and get your picture taken!
Cindy Lou Who has come a long way -- everyone has watched her toss out her playful golden locks and flouncy dresses for platinum hair, black attire and making lingerie a staple in her wardrobe. Now Taylor Momsen, actress and singer of the rock band The Pretty Reckless, can continue sporting her plaid and chains for Material Girl, a collaboration of Madonna and Lola’s fashion genius. The launch has some big things in store to celebrate its new Macy’s exclusive line, just in time for back-to-school shopping.
On Tuesday, August 3rd, lucky shoppers and fans will be able to see Momsen perform live acoustic music in the junior's department on the 4th floor at Macy’s in Herald Square. Photos with Momsen will be taken from 5:00-7:00pm. Select Macy’s stores nationwide will host Madonna themed in-store events to encourage the new fashion line and entertain fans and fashionistas alike.
