First, let’s be clear. Cake Boss is not your typical cooking show. While, yes, cooking (well, more specifically, baking) is one of the main focal points of this new TLC reality show, the other, yet equal, aspect is that this is a show about a big Italian family in New Jersey. So, for my fellow Real Housewives of New Jersey fans out there, Cake Boss is sure to entertain you.

Buddy Valastro is the head baker of Carlo’s City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey. He is “The Boss.” Family plays a key role in Buddy’s business, as his mother, four older sisters and three brother-in-laws are his employees. In other words, DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA! And, it tastes delish.

Aside from Buddy’s charming and hilarious New Jersey accent (think fogettaboutit), not only is he actually a phenomenal baker, but also an artist. When asked to bake a cake for local retired firemen, Buddy when above and beyond when he constructed a cake with a house that had smoke (well, not really smoke—it was actually water vapor, so that the cake wouldn’t melt) coming out of it, as well as a fire truck with working lights! And, you could eat the whole thing…damn. Talk about mad skills!

Be sure to catch new episodes of Cake Boss, Mondays at 10:00 PM on TLC.
