Happy Cheese Fondue Day!
Come enjoy the finer things at this East Village Wine Bar

Want to know the perfect place to celebrate Cheese Fondue Day tonight? Where you can find great snacks, a great wine list and enough snobbery for your wallet to handle? It is time to head over to the East Village and check out the Bourgeois Pig. Bourgeois, a word typically referring to a "class of citizens who were wealthier members of the Third Estate," describes exactly what this place is not portraying. With an extensive all-French wine list and cheese plates, this establishment is just the place to kick off your night without spending all the money you have budgeted for the evening.

When you walk in, a gentleman in a fancy top hat and retro ensemble greets you at the door. With his fun enthusiasm and charm, he guides you to your seat. Just remember this place does not take reservations and they won’t seat your incomplete party. They will only sit whoever is there at the time, but if you more than 4 in your party, it can end up being a tight squeeze. The place gets crowded pretty fast but it is also because once you sit down with your group on the comfy sofas, you won’t want to leave! Especially once you are poured a glass of Beaujolais to pair with your French Onion Fondue.

The place is dark and after stepping in during happy hour, you can easily forget it is still light outside. The chandelier that hangs from the ceiling in the middle of the bar adds to the pretentious feeling trickling throughout the atmosphere. When you look closer at the decor, nothing is too extravagant and this is the right spot to wear jeans and a t-shirt or a cute spring dress. It is meant to have a casual ambiance, but it also has a certain amount of exclusivity at first glance.

Their snacks are tasty and shareable. The charcuterie plate is a nice option and comes with hot and sweet sopresatta, chorizo and prosciutto. The Bruschetta pairs well with many of the wines. Our favorites include the Goat Cheese and Roasted Mushroom, and the Fresh Herb Ricotta with Eggplant Caviar. All of them are $11 but you can have a Sampler Plate that includes a choice of 3 for $12. Their cheeseboards include different types of accoutrements and only cost $20 for 5 cheeses, whether all French or Seasonal.

In celebration of Cheese Fondue Day on April 11th, you should probably stop by to try their incredible Savory Fondue. They also serve Sweet Fondue which includes choices of dark, milk and white chocolate, dulce de leche and butterscotch.

Also, they serve their bottles of wine for half off every Monday and Tuesday. What a deal!
