Calling all obsessed foodies (so…umm…everyone reading this blog):
Notes From a Kitchen: A Journey into Culinary Obsession hits shelves December 8 and while you may not know it yet- you want this book. A lot.
The tome is touted as not being “a traditional cookbook but an unprecedented look into the world of culinary arts.” What does that mean? It means that NFAK collaborators, Artist/Photographer/Filmmaker/Food Lover Jeff Scott and Chef Blake Beshore hit up their foodie friends to serve an intense look inside the messily delicious lives of America’s most talented chefs.
Who’s on the menu? George Mendes, Johnny Iuzzini, Emma Hearst, Zakary Pelaccio, Michael Laiskonis and Neal Fraser to name a few. And while hard core recipes don't grace the pages, the book promises to offer above average foodie fodder. “We wanted to give the readers a truthful understanding of a chef’s obsessions,” says Scott. “If Johnny Iuzzini and I are handing out inside his loft while he lets off steam hitting his boxing bag, then I’m going to take the reader there with me.” Yes. We would very much like to go to there.
Two events will celebrate the two volume book’s upcoming release. On Wednesday, December 7, Chef Emma Hearst will host a dinner at Sorella featuring a four-course tasting menu ($65). On Thursday, December 8, Zakary Pelaccio will serve up light bites, wine beer and some specialty cocktails at Fatty ‘Cue in Williamsburg from 7-10pm ($65). From 10pm on, the Fatty crew will keep the party going with $5 Recession Specials, $5 cocktails and the regular (read: awesome) menu. Of course the book will also be available for purchase at both events and some of the big names toques are likely to show up as well.
