This past Friday, at the Warner Theater, Anthony Bourdain - of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations - hosted an evening of culinary chit chat. Topics ranged from what it's like to be on a reality cooking show, to what goes on behind the doors of a restaurant kitchen. Also included in the conversation: chef shit talking.
"I'm not happy at all with him," Ripert said. "I don't like what he's doing on TV...He's a very smart man, great pride. He's a very good cook. However, what he's doing on TV is a crime because he's hitting people...He's humiliating them. I don't know what kind of inspiration that is for the young. I think we have to be inspirational."
Ouch? I think not. Have y'all ever watched Hell's Kitchen? That man is a thundering loony. Between cursing fits of rage, throwing cooking utensils around the kitchen and sexist rants, it's about time someone publicly acknowledged that, while his berating may be good for ratings, it's no way to show the world it's okay to treat people.
