Arriving at Pacha NYC on Black Friday, the energy was evident before even walking through the doors. The venue was filled with partygoers all ready to dance off their Thanksgiving dinners and leftovers, at the prestigious New York City spot. Awaiting up and coming house DJ duo AN21 & Max Vangeli to headline the Black Friday event.

AN21(born Antoine Joseffson), the brother of Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello, has been working alongside Max Vangeli for the past year caught up with us before getting into the booth at Pacha to tell us a little bit more about themselves and their upcoming projects. Vangeli, named one of the "Top 5 DJs to watch in 2011" by the Top 100 DJ poll on DJMag.com, and AN21 have taken over clubs worldwide with remixes of Swedish House Mafia's Save the World as well as Pendulum's The Island. Both anticipating the gig, they gave the crowd one of the best sets in which I have seen them, if not the best. Feeling the vibes of the club rocking to the music, AN21 even attempted (and succeeded!) in crowd-surfing throughout Pacha's main floor! Definitely a night for the record books, as per usual, at Pacha NYC.

Joonbug: Have you always been interested in becoming a DJ? What other profession would you become if you were not a professional DJ?

Vangeli: I think I would probably be a bum or something. I have no idea to be honest with you.

AN21: I've always been the lucky one that knew what I wanted to do all my life. I actually dropped out of school when I was 16 or something and tried to do music from there.

JB: You two have been touring together for the majority of the past year as a duo on the Size Matters tour with Size Records . What prompted you two to DJ and remix together?

Max Vangeli: So it is kind of that question, of how we met! We've been working together and touring together a lot on Size obviously. The reason why we travel together is because obviously we work on a lot of our music together at this point and working on our album. That's pretty much it.

AN21: Yea, pretty much!

JB:  Who are some of your biggest inspirations in the music scene, both electronic as well as other genres?  Who are your biggest music influences?

AN21: Obviously, I am going to say Steve Angello, my brother, but if not him than Daft Punk, one hundred percent.

Vangeli: Yea, Steve is a big inspiration for us and we listen to so many different genres of music to be honest with you.  We get inspired from all sorts of genres, ya know, rock, pop, house, everything.

AN21: Love these chords by the way. (referring to the background song playing)

Vangeli: (to AN21 jokingly) We should steal them!

JB: Are you working on any new tracks or remixes either collectively or individually?

AN21: We've got an album I think, nothing special. Just an album.

Vangeli: We've been working on the album mainly and just finishing it up now. We are going to start releasing (tracks) slowly starting next month probably. Yea, we are just focusing on our album right now, no remix work at all.

JB: Are you currently working collectively to create any new tracks, remixes or even an album that you can fill us in on? Any hints as to what tracks you may play tonight at Pacha?

Vangeli: We don't play hits, we just play what we feel like playing I guess.

AN21: We're going to have fun, that's all that matters, besides Size obviously, we're going to have fun.
