You’ve got to give them credit for trying, but this tour was doomed from the start: beginning with guitarist Brad Whitford, who missed the first few shows because he was recovering from surgery after hitting his head, while getting out of his Ferrari; next was bass player Tom Hamilton who left the tour to undergo “noninvasive surgery,” and has yet to return; then seven shows were postponed last month due to Tyler hurting his leg muscle; and finally the tour is indefinitely postponed because of Steven Tyler’s broken shoulder from falling off the stage during a concert.
The band was performing in Sturgis, South Dakota. While performing “Love in an Elevator,” Tyler accidentally stepped backward off the catwalk. Oy. The concert was stopped and Tyler was airlifted to a hospital where, along with his broken shoulder, he received stitches in his back and shoulder.
Lead guitarist Joe Perry said, “We still don’t know it we’re going to keep the tour up or what. It’s breaking my heart.” Ours too.
