It’s true: Bob Dylan is releasing a Christmas Album. Finally. Because I know I have waited for years to hear a nasally and critical album ripping apart the holiday season.
On a more serious note, according to his website, the proceeds from the album will be donated to Feeding America. The site states that over four million meals will be provided during the holiday season, with all future royalties perpetually going to Feeding America, constantly ensuring that many in need get fed.
Songs to be included on the album: ‘Here Comes Santa Claus,’ ‘Winter Wonderland,’ ‘Little Drummer Boy,’ and ‘Must Be Santa.’ The title of the album is Christmas in the Heart, although it should really be Christmas from the Heart, due to the incredible generosity of Dylan.
On a lighter note, I can’t wait to hear about the broken dreams of the little drummer boy, Santa’s disillusionment with the holiday that has commercialized him, and the warm, snowless Winter Wonderland that will be sung about in Dylan’s (hopefully) slightly altered versions of the traditional songs. And from one Jew to another, I'd like to hear just one Hannukah song, to replace the ubiquitous Adam Sandler one that we always hear on the radio.
Christmas in the Heart will be released on Tuesday, October 13th by Columbia Records.
