DMB's Tim Reynolds "Crashes" Into West Palm
With two Dave Matthews Band shows this weekend at Cruzan Amphitheatre, DMB guitarist Tim Reynolds discusses the tour, and shares his humorous side on yoga and banana phones.

Pooh Bear, Yoga, Spaceships. That's how Tim Reynolds kicks off a Dave Matthews Band weekend.

With two highly anticipated DMB shows Friday and Saturday at Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm, DMB guitarist Tim Reynolds shared his humorous side as he jumpstarted the weekend with a show of his own at Roxy’s Pub.

Reynolds and his eclectic ensemble TR3 played an intimate 2-hour set that featured costumed creatures like Pooh Bear and Elmo crashing the stage in flashing gas masks during his rendition of James Brown‘s “Sex Machine.”

After the 21-song set, Reynolds sat down to share some insight into the DMB and TR3 weekend to come.

An animated and playful Reynolds gave a hilarious tongue-in-cheek demonstration of yoga poses to enlighten all on how the guitar virtuoso maintains a high energy level during a grueling tour that can sometimes include multiple shows in one night.

In addition, Reynolds even joked that he met DMB frontman Dave Matthews “on a spaceship,” where they communicated using banana phones.

The man who has been a staple with DMB for the past 20 years then turned his focus in a more genuine way to the highly-touted 2010 tour, calling it a success “going wide and going fast,” even expressing glowing sentiments about a new addition to the band.

“Jeff Coffin [saxophonist touring with DMB], the mad sax inspires me to practice every day,” Reynolds said. “Just to keep up with that crazy virtuoso. Love that man he’s always turning me on to music.”

Sounds like a great tour. More to come from West Palm Beach.
