“We Are Young” hit makers Fun. (which includes previous members of The Format) brought their energetic tour to Terminal 5 on Saturday, June 16 and it’s safe to say everyone in New York City heard the show.  Or at least the crowd.

Fans of The Format are no stranger to lead singer Nate Ruess’ powerful voice, which transcended through arguably the nosiest crowd Terminal 5 has experienced. It’s apparent Nate was born for the stage, as he jumped and pranced his way around other Fun. members and floating balloons.

“I’ve been living in New York City for almost 5 years, so I think that makes me a New Yorker and I’m proud to call this a home show,” Ruess began to explain before jumping into (and dedicating to his family who sat above the crowd) “The Gambler.” It should come to no surprise that “We Are Young” made the crowd bond with one another as arms linked and fans swayed, singing along to provoke more of a bonding ambiance than any car commercial that song is featured in could do.

Fun left the stage (presumably before the encore), prompting an entire sea of fans to chant, “We want Fun! We want Fun!” over and over like Fun. may have not came back for more. Thankfully for those with any doubt, Nate and crew made their entrance back onto the stage and broke out into The Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”

Nate led the crowd into cheering, singing “You can’t always get what you want / but if you try sometimes well you might find / you get what you need.” It was safe to say that night, everyone got what they both wanted and needed: Fun with Fun.
