As the sound of music is ever-changing, so are the faces. When artist Sean Paul appeared on the music scene, he definitely changed the face of dancehall music as we know it. Singer Ms. Triniti seems to have taken note of that and is stepping up to the plate to follow suit. Born to a Trinidadian father and an American mother, Triniti Bhaguandas decided to stick to her Caribbean heritage when it came to music.
Although she has been nicknamed ‘The Caribbean’s answer to Beyonce’, her music career did not get off to a smooth start. She was originally signed to Sony/Columbia Records but was later released. She decided to take the independent route which brought her more success than her original record deal venture. She has three albums under her belt already and has toured with artists such as Ja Rule, Kevin Lyttle, Elephant Man and Sean Paul.
Ms. Triniti has also been credited to opening the doors to a new genre of music called ‘Ragga Hop’- a unique blend of Caribbean Dancehall and Soca melodies infused with American R & B and Hip hop. The infectious sound can be heard on most of her music- especially her most recent work. Her latest single, “Burnin’ Burnin’” featuring dancehall artist Beenie Man is a hit in Jamaica, making it all the way to number one on Jamaica’s Top 30 Dancehall Singles Chart. The video has also been quite popular and can occasionally be seen here in the U.S.
Ms. Triniti is definitely someone to watch when it comes to music. Her sound makes her stand out as well as her looks. She already has a strong following out in L.A., but it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the U.S. fully catches on to her undeniable style and talent.
