Today’s spotlight falls on a relative festival newb: Firefly. Occurring from July 20th-22nd, and located in the wilderness of Dover, Delaware; Firefly is touting itself as “The East Coast’s Premiere Music Experience”—quite a bold statement! While the locale may be a bit more rustic than most, the formula stays the same: 3 days, about 50 acts, a bevy of food & drink options, and most importantly, some good old fashioned outdoor musical performances!
The buzz is building, with “Early Bird Tix” already selling out, and “Advance Passes” looking likely to follow suite. Headliners include a smattering of alt and indie rock outfits, which features: The Killers, The Black Keys, Jack White, and Death Cab for Cutie. The additions of John Legend and Lupe Fiasco also add some much needed diversity to this generally rock-heavy lineup.
Whatever your musical style, Firefly is shaping up to be another legitimate addition to the already established (and flourishing) summer festival scene. By promoting environmental awareness, offering sustainability options, and opting for a more heavily-wooded locale, Firefly is striving to carve out its own niche in the fest-sphere. Time will ultimately reveal the fate of Firefly’s success, yet with a promising, star-studded line-up, and reasonably priced tix, this fest is shaping up to be something memorable!
Remember, time is of the essence! The earlier you snag your tix, the more you’re likely to save. Get your “Advance Passes” while they last—here!
