Radiohead steps out of the dark.
Radiohead, the unit (as in, not Thom via Atoms for Peace) and a tour, (as in, not the anxiety-inducing, rumor-stimulating one-off performances that have left myriad worshippers wounded in their unplanned wake) reunite after a three quiet tourless years. Accompanying the titanic rockers will be Other Lives, an indie rock band from Stillwater, Oklahoma.
The tour, which hits the stage February 27 at Miami, Florida's American Airlines Arena flows throughout much of the South (Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Austin et cetera) and will wrap up March 15 in Glendale, Ariazona at Jobing.com Area. (David Foster Wallace fans will be in a cold sweat by now. The venue names can only be described as uncomfortable)
The tour, ostensibly south-centric is very likely a sneak peak of what's to come. Radiohead has made reference to touring all over 2012 (From February through November) so the lineup is likely a sneak peak of what's to come. Additionally, the announcement did allude to a forthcoming list of dates and locations, so frantic, forgotten pockets of the country can take comfort in the clause below:
"Hi there we are happy to announce the first part of some live shows we will be doing next year, more to follow."
Here are the dates:
2/27: Miami, FL American Airlines Arena
2/29: Tampa, FL The St. Pete Times Forum
3/1: Atlanta, GA Philips Arena
3/3: Houston, TX Toyota Center
3/5: Dallas, TX American Airlines Center
3/7: Austin, TX Frank Erwin Center
3/9: St. Louis, MO Scottrade Center
3/11: Kansas City, MO Sprint Center
3/13: Broomfield, CO 1stBank Center
3/15: Glendale, AZ Jobing.com Arena
This tour will likely feature their latest album, King of Limbs, and will strive to depart from the vibe of their last road endeavor which guitarist Ed O'Brian told BBC 6Music in October "felt very much like In Rainbows and a greatest hits... this time it's going to be predominantly from this record and the last record and then see which songs fit around that."
Ticket storms, cough, sales, begin November 12, with the W.A.S.T.E fan presale beginning November 9.
