No Club Necessary: 5 Essential DJ Mixes for the Home Listener
Skip the sweaty club and enjoy these mixes in the comfort of your own home!

Weird 1960's consumerist advertising aside, it is really nice to listen to DJ sets without being surrounded by 300 sweaty people you're trying not to touch.  It also makes for a more satisfying musical experience, as you can pause, re-listen, and look up tracks as you go.  Although I should add, however, please don't listen to these on your Macbook speakers or ipod headphones... Get yourself some real gear (or at least a decent pair of headphones) and hear what you've been missing.  Seriously.  Please.

Objekt: FACT Mix #300

This stellar FACT mix is everything you'd expect from one of the more complex and interesting producers working today.  Rife with the inner-workings of robots' brains, exercises in arcane musicality and some of the glitchiest minimal techno and house on this planet.  Well mixed, well curated and a pleasure to delve into, Objekt wows us once again with his burdensome musical knowledge and electronic prowess.

Four Tet: Return To Plastic People aka FACT 182

Four Tet has been in the electronic game for quite some time now, so there's not much more I can say about him.  This FACT mix is killer smooth with tracks dragged from deep within the vault.  His knowledge and skill behind the decks is seemingly infinite, as he reinvents himself any and every time he lays down.  A mix of some minimal beats, jazz, electro, and everything in between, this hour plus mix should be played for every child at the time of birth.  It's that good.

Jamie XX: BBC Essential Mix

Jamie XX is the darling child of UK electronic music.  After gaining success in the band, wait for it, the XX, he has started producing his own stuff.  While only having a few singles and one incredible remix album, Jaime XX has made a name for himself with his innovative and nuanced take on electronic music.  This mix is no different.  I'm dancing while writing this, and I NEVER dance.

Ebw
Pearson Sound: BBC Essential Mix

Pearson Sound is another young gun coming up in the underground London scene.  In his BBC mix, he wows us with an incredible mix of current and past affairs, everything from Burial and Zomby's dark 'step, to Mr. Fingers funky fresh mid 80's Chicago house.  If you don't think those can be well mixed, you need to check this out, the dude's a master.

SND: FACT Mix 276

So, electronic music, eh?  This one is only for the real electro-freaks out there.  These guys have completely deconstructed music as we know it, down to its bear and essential parts.  This is intense, interesting, and maybe almost pleasant.  Enjoy! (I couldn't resist)
