Songwriter/producer, Rodney Jerkins is currently working on albums for Diddy, Toni Braxton and Mary J. Blige. Somewhere in between producing for the titans of R&B, he will find time to star in his own reality TV series.
Don’t even start with the “Oh no, not another one” monologue, because you watch them too. The series will be called “Starmaker” and is created by Diddy and Mark Burnett, the man behind flooding our networks with reality TV. The show will run this summer and ten episodes are a definite so far.
“Starmaker” will feature aspiring solo artists living together and competing for a record deal with BadBoy. The biggest perk of them all is to have the star himself, Jerkins, produce a song. Or two. The contestants will perform in front of an audience every week, handle photo shoots and deal with the paparazzi. Kind of like pop star hell-week.
A panel of judges will be led by Jerkins, including a guest judge every week. You know how the reality thing goes. Someone gets booted every week as well. Jerkins first cringed at the idea of another talent show, but says there’s always talent there needing to be discovered. He also added he’s the most frank person you’ll ever meet.
“Simon Cowell doesn’t have anything on me”, he told Billboard.com. Wrong comparison bub, we don’t need another Cowell on TV.
