Two dimensions just aren't enough to honor the King of Pop, or so The Grammy Awards have decided. You'll need to put on one of the millions of free 3-D glasses being distributed at Target stores nationwide in order to view the never-before-seen 3-D film projection for "Earth Song." The glasses will allow both viewers at home and in the audience to experience this unprecedented performance of one of Jackson's most personal songs. As Grammy co-executive producer Ken Ehrlich put it, "[Earth Song] reflects Michael's deeply held feelings about the earth." Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy adds, "This very special GRAMMY Moment will feature some of our most respected GRAMMY recipients, all of whom have a great love for Michael. This segment promises to be an emotional highlight of this year's show, and is sure to join the unique list of amazing performances for which the GRAMMY Awards have become renowned."
Usher, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Smokey Robinson will be performing alongside the mini-film, which was originally produced to support live performances of "Earth Song" for Jackson's This Is It tour.
The Rolling Stone reports that the musicians will sing along with Jackson's pre-recorded vocal track as the 3-D movie runs.
The 3-D glasses are available at Target stores between January 24th and the 31st.
