I always thought it was a rap thing, but now the rock folks
are getting in on the fun of featuring artists on their upcoming albums. Thom
Yorke took time out of the studio in sunny L.A. while recording with Radiohead to lend his angelic pipes to Flying Lotus on the song ... And the World Laughs With You for his upcoming album Cosmogramma. Yorke is no stranger when
it comes to appearing on guest spots when he recently appeared on
Modeselektor's The White Flash.
Flying Lotus will also have guest spots from Outkast and Erykah Badu and talked about his upcoming album, "I'm finally getting to the point where I can make the kind of records that I want to make -- that I wanted to make when I was younger, things that I dreamed about making. It's this fusion-y kind of thing where all the elements of the music that I love are there."
Cosmogramma is due out May 4th on Warp Records.
On another featured note, Jamie Lidell will have a whole slew of guest spots on his upcoming album, Compass. But unlike most featured spots, these artists; Beck, Feist, Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, Daniel Rossen, and Chris Bear, Wilco's Pat Sansone, Legendary R&B drummer James Gadson, and Beck keyboardist Brian LeBarton will all be lending a hand on producing, writing, and singing.
Compass is due out May 18th on Warp Records as well.
