Poor Biebs. He was on top of the world, #1 hits, devoted girlfriend, millions of adoring fans. He is the quintessential rags to riches story, living the American Dream. Of course, along with the wonderful American lifestyle comes freedom. Freedom to pursue your dreams, freedom of speech, and freedom to sue whoever the hell you please, apparently. Take 20-year-old Mariah Yeater for example. Yeater filed a paternity suit against Justin Bieber yesterday in L.A. claiming he is the father of her 3 month old son. The suit claims Yeater took Bieber's virginity in an unprotected encounter in October 2010 backstage at one of his concerts in L.A. Bieber's reps are vehemently denying the claims dismissing them as "malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false" adding they "will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations."

The scariest part about all of this is the realization that ANYONE can make these sorts of claims against ANYONE. Celebrities are especially vulnerable. As was the case for Leonardo DiCaprio who was
granted a 3 year restraining order against a "mentally disturbed" 41-year-old woman who claimed she was his wife and that he was the father of her unborn child. She even sent him a
creepy handwritten letter. The woman was eventually placed in a mental facility. So, Bieber's case can very well be another fangirl-gone-wacky scenario.
We're pulling for Biebs and hoping this is all a sham, but one thing is certain, Tweinergate has begun.
