Jay Z and Kanye West

While summer and live music go hand-in-hand, many marquee acts save their big tours for the fall, giving showgoers a break from the daily grind of school and work. Armed with new releases and a tour bus, here are five acts you really don't want to miss.

Watch the Throne Tour

With such a long-anticipated (and highly praised) release, it only makes sense that the mega-collaboration between Jay-Z and Kanye West would hit the road. I'd call it the rap equivalent of Batman & Robin taking the stage, but with egos has huge as 'Ye and Hov's, there's no room for a sidekick. (Dates here)

Honda Civic Tour

Though it hit the road this summer, The Honda Civic tour is driving its wheels well into October. The tour is headed by post-hiatus pop-punk godfathers Blink-182, who are finally releasing their long-awaited album Neighborhoods on Sept. 27th. Supporting Blink is My Chemical Romance, with Matt and Kim opening the majority of the remaining shows. It's all the music you loved at 13, only older and better. (Dates and info here)

Skrillex: The Mothership Tour

After years of fronting screamo band From First to Last, Sonny Moore has turned his bedroom project into a collossal, massively popular dubstep movement. Expect the adventurous, crushing beats of Skrillex to translate to a zany, violently danceable live set. Two Fresh and Foreign Beggars will open the event. (Dates and info here)

Thrice

Over the past decade, Californians Thrice have elevated themselves out of the early 2000's punk scene to become an endlessly creative group of musicians that can't be pidgeonholed as "punk," "post-hardcore," or just about any other "p" word that gets tossed around on message boards. Much like their tourmates O'Brother, La Dispute, and Moving Mountains, they simply create innovative, emotionally captivating rock music. With their newest release Major/Minor hitting stores Sept. 20th, expect an energetic, varied set drawn from the band's seven-record catalog. (Dates and info here)

The AP Tour Featuring Four Year Strong

Every fall, Alternative Press hand-picks five of punk and alternative's rising stars and sends them on the road together. This year, Boston pop-punk heavyweights Four Year Strong are leading the charge, supported by Gallows, Title Fight, The Swellers, and Sharks, all humble, hardworking bands whose styles range from the catchier side of punk to it's grittiest.
