Usher, Fat Joe Support Rico Love and New Division One Label
Usher, Fat Joe and others came out this past Friday to Red Steakhouse in Miami.

Even with a world tour only days away, good friends come first.

R&B megastar Usher made sure to show some affection to his close friend and colleague Rico Love this past weekend as Love, the writer responsible for songs like “Daddy’s Home” and Nelly’s “Just a Dream” launched his new label Division One Music Group.

With his OMG Tour so close to kicking off Nov. 10 and on the West Coast no less, Usher said there was never a question to if he would be in Miami at Red Steakhouse, 119 Washington Ave., this past Friday night to support his comrade in hip-hop.

“There’s only one Rico,” Usher said. “Him as a creative source, you know when you look at what he’s done as a writer and just in preparation for everything that he’s doing, you’re excited! I just really wanted to be here in support of that tonight, to be supportive of him.”

Usher said the combination of Love’s eye for talent and his own talent is why he is one of the most influential writer/producers in hip-hop today.

Another close friend and South Florida hip-hop staple Fat Joe had similar words about Love, the man who has worked with Beyonce, Mario and Jaime Foxx.

“He’s the fastest worker I have ever seen, most dedicated. He’s in the studio everyday doing his thing,” Joe said. “He’s a genius man, there’s no way around it. I’ve worked with a lot of people, Rico Love is just a genius.”

Love enjoyed the party but said with the label officially launched, the real work would begin.

“We putting it into overdrive, I start back in the studio for [Young] Chris’s album tomorrow morning,” Love said. “I’m going to party all night, get a few hours of sleep and get back in the studio in the morning.”
