Baby Phat: Kimora Lee Simmons Was Fired?
Both sides are keeping quiet, but sources spill the details.

The confusion between Phat Fashions' Baby Phat and its overly ostentatious ‘creative director’ Kimora Lee Simmons, has gone from puzzling to worse: bad press. Initially, judging from Simmons' Twitter, it appeared that the former model and ex-wife to Russell Simmons, had left the label – feeling obligated to lend more selfish self-advertising to her other fashion ventures. “Sometimes we have limited choices in life,” Simmons tweeted. “We have 2 RIDE the WAVE baby! Team FABULOSITY!”

We are all too familiar with celebrities and their confidentiality agreements - so, assuming there is one, we expect both Simmons and Baby Phat, owned by Kellwood, to keep mum about the situation. However, Page Six believes Simmons was fired as opposed to quitting. Their sources claim that the company was going over budget to air-brush Simmons' size-10 body for ads. In tow, Simmons is accused of spending high fees on body doubles – to plant her face on – paying herself to appear in ads and paying her children as well.

After noting her lavish behavior weekly on her reality TV show, watching Russell leave Phat Fashions, and watching her design team leave while on set, it's no surprise that Simmons then revamped the line completely to suit Kohl department store taste. Along those lines, it wouldn't be a stretch if she decided to completely depart as well. It is still unclear if the firing allegations are completely true or fabricated, but the photo-shopping and body double heresay? Doesn't seem too far off.

As she promised, we expect to see Simmons' face soon, plastered on another body for another one of her labels – labels we’ve never seen anyone wear, but her. For now, according to Simmons' Twitter, we know the company will not show this upcoming fashion week, nor would Simmons attend if they did.
