Light, fresh eye makeup is a huge trend right now in the beauty world! Combining light shadows with dramatic, dark eyeliner and mascara is a classic look that was made popular by past beauties like Brigitte Bardot and Twiggy. Currently, modern day celebs, like Lauren Conrad, and fashionistas are rocking this look as if it never even left. Here's your step-by-step guide to creating the perfect light, big-eyed look:

Step 1: Start with an eye primer, try Shadow Insurance by Too Faced, to make sure your eye makeup stays perfect all day.

Step 2: To make your eyes appear wide and awake dab the inner corners of both eyes with a highlighting shadow or cream like Nars Illuminator in Copacabana.

Step 3: Sweep your crease with a deep brown or bronze shadow like Soft Brown Matte by Mac or Sexpresso by Too Faced.

Step 4: Pat your eyelid with a very light gold shadow like Naked Lunch from Mac or Peach Fuzz by Too Faced.

Step 5: Line your eyes with a thick black liner, try L'oreal's Mistake-Proof Marker Eyeliner, and slightly flair it out on the sides for a winged effect.

Step 6: Line your water line (the inside of your bottom lid) with a white or beige eyeliner, try Nars Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Rue Bonaparte or Santa Monica Blvd, to make your eyes look big and wide.

Step 7: Finish up by coating your top and bottom lashes with a lengthening mascara like Dior Diorshow Mascara.

To really maximize the light, big-eyed look, pair it with rosy lips, soft pink cheeks, and bold brows.

This look is great because it can be done in a very subtle way or you can play it up and make it as dramatic as you like! Whether you're spending the day at the beach, bar hopping all night, or dragging your tired butt into work after an all-nighter, this look works for any occasion!
