Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

Okay, this one is pretty obvious, but let us start from the beginning. We couldn’t bare to make a list of fashionable movies without including the seed of classic taste: Audrey Hepburn’s character, Holly Golightly. As an eccentric socialite in the fashion Mecca of our Nation, Holly brings a whole new meaning to the word “chic.” The LBD, tiara, and elbow-length gloves will forever be a classic look.

Flashdance (1983)

A movie that is still referenced for the 1980’s styles, Jennifer Beals’ exotic dancer-turned-ballerina character mastered the legwarmers, off-the-shoulder sweatshirt and big frizzed hair. Through this movie, the athletic-meets-street style appeal was born with the cropped sweatshirts, tight leggings, legwarmers and high-tops that we still see being revived today. Though the styles aren’t all thrown together at once anymore (unless on the streets during Halloween) bits and pieces of Alex Owens are still showing up in our current trends.

Almost Famous (2000)

Whether or not you have seen this movie, everyone can recollect the image of Kate Hudson’s character, Penny Lane, in her circular sunglasses, long, shearling-lined coat, and carefree ball of blond hair. This look set a new standard for creating that ultimate rocker '70s style. A fantastic movie about Rolling Stone Mag, roadies, and rock ‘n roll with amazing costume choices!

Factory Girl (2006)

Edie Sedgwick is definitely a fashion legend and an icon to reference for any mod or 1960’s styles. Sienna Miller as Sedgwick plays a dramatic, sad, and vibrant role with ups and downs in her emotional path throughout the movie, but one thing is very consistent, the swinging sixties fashions. From her leopard print oversized coats paired with leotards and tights, to the chandelier earrings, thick brows, and cat eye makeup, the fashion is spot-on in an almost effortlessly thrown together way that we all wish we could achieve!

My Week with Marilyn (2011)

Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe was spot on with her airiness, elegance and clean and sexy styles. The wayfarer sunglasses, blond curls, and tight dresses are stunning on Williams as she plays the fanciful character. We also loved the casual wear shown on Williams in simple high-wasted pants, tied up check tops and sneakers. Definitely an amazing reference for that glammed up look!
