Last Friday, Urban gave WWD an exclusive interview, where he dished all about his upcoming fragrance. Urban says that he chose the name Phoenix for his scent because that word holds a lot of symbolism and meaning for him. On his left forearm, Urban bares a tattoo of a phoenix, which he uses as a daily reminder that even if one "succumbs to the challenges and burns in the fire" he will eventually rise up even stronger than before.
Urban has always been a "scent connesiuer". His tastes in cologne range from Brut to Calvin Klein Escape for Men to Tom Ford to Dolce & Gabanna to Dior. Urban worked with Boom LLC to build his fragrance from the "ground up". Urban's main goal when creating his scent, besides creating a smell that was both masculine and simple, was to make it affordable to his fans. He started the process by bringing in all the smells he enjoys, like leathery scents because of their masculinity and sensualness. Urban decided on top notes of blackberry, cognac, plum scuede, dark chocolate, fir balsam, and musk to make up Phoenix. Mmm, sounds delicious.
Urban designed the bottle to represent a guitar; the heavy lines down the glass bottle represent guitar strings.Three sizes will be sold: 1 oz. for $24, 1.7 oz. for $35, and 3.4 oz. for $48.
