In exhibitions around the globe, fashion icons past and present are receiving celebratory recognition for their lifetimes of achievement; it seems Giorgio Armani is ready for his turn in the spotlight. The purveyor of prive is planning a self-curated exhibition to be held in Milan during an upcoming fashion week. From couture gowns to fragrances and now luxury hotels in chic Dubai and Milan, the designer certainly has something to celebrate.

After over fifty years of designing, Armani has narrowed the scope for the exhibit to works that represent historical moments for his eponymous brand over the past ten years. Considered one of the most successful designers to come out of Italy, Armani has pioneered his way through the fashion industry. He was the first designer to ban models who didn’t meet a healthy body mass index requirement and also among the first to live stream fashion shows with the Armani Prive Spring/Summer 2007 collection. Not to mention his celebrity clientele ranges from Batman Bruce Wayne to Lady Gaga.

It seems the recent opening of The Metropolitan’s Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition sparked Armani’s new side project. "I went back and saw that I had designed some (Salvador) Dalì-inspired accessories—à la Schiaparelli—five or six years ago," said the designer. His news was just announced this morning at a Beijing press conference where Armani is presenting a fashion show this evening.
