After years and years of designing sportswear necessities, Oakley has decided to take a quick turn into women’s swimwear. The word on the street is that the notoriously sporty brand, is said to launch this collection of women’s swimwear in stores this coming November. The company will be partnering up with the Trimera Group, where it will be distributed under and licensed by the Montreal-based company.

But don’t be surprised if there are no frills or flirty frocks. Paying homage to their brand, Oakley’s new collection will still maintain the active appeal as it will be filled with performance swimwear, and swim related accessories for the “athletic type.” According to WWD, Kathy Van Ness, president of the swim division at Trimera Group, explained, “This is not a collection for a girly girl, it’s for the sporty girl and it has a lot of attitude. It’s athletic sporty and not meant to be flirty.”

It will be interesting to see what the company comes up with, as their goal is to incorporate both trendiness and fashion in with their continuing aesthetic of practical and active. The collection is said to contain items retailing between $44 and $88 making it a rather budget friendly one. Though the looks will not be available until the late fall, Oakley will be unveiling their new collection at the upcoming Miami Swim Show starting July 14th.

Expect to see the new collection at Oakley O, Oakley Vault, and Oakley.com.
