Fashion Week is the week to know what is going to be treading, or should we say trending, our way in the coming seasons. The runway is of course where we all study styles and figure out what trends to prepare for. However "street chic" is just as much a part of the week as the runways. Some of the best styles and inspirations can be found on the streets of New York and fashion week just happens to be the time when all of these trend setters are baited into one single place by their common hunger for fashion. This, my friends, is the perfect opportunity for those who can't get into the shows, to find fashion forward looks!
On and off the runway we found a few different accessory trends that caught our eye. The first being elbow length gloves, and more specifically, red elbow length gloves. Designers like Betsey Johnson, Ralph Lauren and Diane von Furstenberg all exemplified this trend perfectly on the runway with multiple looks to give the accessory a little variety. It’s an elegant look, a pop of color and a great way to stay warm!

Another big trend, literally, are the super warm cowl necks we have seen a bit of this winter. The overemphasized look shown by Marc Jacobs, Rachel Zoe, and Helmut Lang give outfits a cleaner appearance. Rather than having the fringe hanging in every direction from a scarf, a cowl neck has a much neater appearance and can be worn in multiple ways (longer, shorter, around the neck & behind the arms- you get the gist) depending on what kind of a statement you are wanting to make.

Bright handbags were another ever present trend at NYFW. We saw people carrying big bright totes in multiple shades of pink, blue, orange, and red. We also saw plenty of colorful clutches and small satchels. This is a quick and easy way to add a pop of color to any ensemble!
