When someone says "Prabal Gurung" what comes to mind are most likely the glamorous red carpet dresses that have landed on everyone from Hailee Steinfeld to Anna Paquin, even Michelle Obama is a fan; but his latest line proves that he is capable of much more.

There is something for everyone in the variety of ensembles that came down the Spring/Summer 2012 ready-to-wear runway, including georgette dresses and tailored suits printed with a design inspired by photographer Nobuyoshi Araki’s Sensual Flowers series. Taking a closer look it is possible to see that the floral decorations have all wilted slightly, adding an eerie feel to the beauty.

As per the ongoing trend sheer played a big role this season with panels giving us a peek at the wearer’s waist and hips, adding a flirty element to the well crafted attire.

Another fantastic element of the collection was the designer’s use of rubber; with a raincoat and skirt made from latex that are out of this world he has been solidified as an avant-garde creator with an ability to appeal to all crowds.

Even the audience was filled with a healthy mix faces, from young celebrities such as Nicki Minaj and Amanda Seyfried to fashion big-wigs like Grace Coddington and Andre Leon Talley, it is easy to see the widespread attention the garments obtain.

Gurung has accomplished a lot in the past three years, between winning the CFDA Swarovski award and his collaboration with retail giant J. Crew it is obvious that he is a designer who can do it all, and we look forward with bated breath to what comes next.
