In their own words: "Porter Grey is an American contemporary sportswear collection, founded by sisters Alexandra and Kristen O’Neill. Building on versatile foundation pieces, Porter Grey creates beautiful garments infused with an urbane elegance and relaxed sophistication. Fresh, crisp, and classic, each collection offers a pared down, timeless take on the quintessential modern American girl. Kristen and Alexandra place the utmost importance on quality and craftsmanship, and above all else that their garments are designed and produced in New York."
Styled by fashion stylist Susan Joy, Porter Grey's Spring/Summer 2012 presentation made us think of sandy beaches and adventures in SoHo. I loved the fact that oversized blouses and blazers went atop beaded minis and wingtip lace-ups. The color palette was one of muted pink tones and floral prints. Minimalistic overall, it was easy to see this look both on and off the runway. Again, we loved the shoe choice. It, in a way, brought everything thing down to earth. There wasn't much glamour shown, unless you count that beaded mini. What may have been considered a "lack" in the way of glamour it definitely made up for it with sheer sophistication. You could definitely see "New York" in the simplicity of collection.
