After establishing a much sought-after ready-to-wear line, Rachel Roy, and seeing the success of her Rachel Rachel Roy diffusion line, the designer is ready to tackle the next fashion frontier: a footwear line.

“Here’s the thing about me and shoes....I really feel like it’s the one item that, no matter how much you make, it is worth saving your pennies for," offers Roy in a statement to WWD. Further, the designer adds, “I don’t want shoes unless they are strong and sexy. I don’t want them to be just strong or just sexy...my collection is just that - strong and sexy. It represents the woman I want to be.”

We’re willing to bet these shoes will represent the woman many want to be, and we’re sure they will deliver on both accords. Roy cites women’s footwear master Manolo Blahnik as the designer influence behind the line, and Blahnik certainly knows a thing or two about strong, sexy footwear! The pair has worked together in the past, as Blahnik has served not only as Roy’s mentor but also created the footwear seen in the Rachel Roy RTW collections during her first six seasons showing during NYFW.

The newly-minted Rachel Roy footwear line will debut a 30-piece collection for the Fall 2012 season. Featuring various materials such as leather, snakeskin, pony hair, suede and yes, even glitter, the line will range in price from just under $200 for flats to about $600 for boots.

Ladies, consider this your warning to start making room in your closets now!
