After a visit to the Rebecca Minkoff showroom in Chelsea to check out the
line's fall 2010 handbag collection, I can't wait to gear up for my favorite
season - fall. Hosted by Shine Media PR, the Rebecca Minkoff presentation showcased an
incredible array of handbags exuding the downtown chic aesthetic that Minkoff
so effortlessly captures. With such a variety of sizes, colors, styles, and materials,
I was struck by the versatility, craftsmanship, and personality of each bag. Here
I've compiled a few reasons why a Rebecca Minkoff handbag is an absolute
must-have for Fall 2010.
First, her classics are 30% off the standard retail price for fall, which makes me 30% closer to getting my hands on their Nikki leather bag with brass hardware accents. Black and gold, here I come!
This fall, Rebecca Minkoff is debuting a 5 Zip Clutch, which is an upgraded version of her 3 Zip Clutch. The extra layer of zippers amps up the detailing and lends it a bit more edge. Priced at $330, this bag is an extremely smart and versatile choice for fall, as it's sure to kick a little rock rebel to any look, and it comes in a demure palette of neutrals (black, brown or grey) or brilliant brights (electric blue and fuchsia).
Minkoff will also premier the Lust cross-body bag for fall. This stand out accessory caught our eyes at the Fall 2010 presentation during Fashion Week, so I was thrilled to sneak a peek up close. It's petite, it's studded, and it's exquisite. Featuring a strap that's inspired by guitar-slinging rock gods and a cute leather tassel, this bag perfectly emulates a downtown city attitude. Priced at $395, we can't wait to get in on the action.
There are also amazing bags in 2 new materials: nubuck and nylon. The nylon is deceptively chic - you'd never guess it was black nylon at first glance. Most of the nylon bags feature leather trim, panels, or straps; and they're all deliciously adorned with round pointed studs.

I fell in love with the nubuck at first sight, so I was surprised when someone told me that most people either really loved it or really hated it. I thought it was such a perfect representation of the Rebecca Minkoff girl - effortless and completely unique with an exterior that looks tough, but is delicate to the touch. The nubuck appears in many different styles, including the aforementioned Lust, but my favorite was probably the massive Rapture bag.

Lastly, Minkoff offers little leather coin pouches in a variety of colors, each featuring a classic French phrase to align with the Fall 2010 theme, Paris, Je T'aime. For only $50, get a little je ne sais quoi of your own, courtesy of Rebecca Minkoff.
And if, by any chance, you're headed to Tampa, Florida next weekend, Rebecca Minkoff herself will be presenting her Spring 2010 collection at Zooey Bloom on Saturday, April 10th! If you're in the area, you won't want to miss this exclusive in-store event and opportunity to meet the designer. (1710 S. Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33629; (813) 251-1706; 12-2pm)
