I left the Edition by Georges Chakra show somewhat confused, for plenty reasons, and with many questions. And after a few shows, parties, and a rushing review of the label itself, I had answered many of my own questions. Some of them, however, remain aloof.
Who's going to wear oversized plastic-looking trousers ?
[Obviously, there's a market within the tents - full of crashers and people anxious to get their pictures taken. If only Chakra had an instant off-the-runway sale.]
What's the connection between fur, matronly evening wear silhouettes, and risky cutouts for Fall 2010?
[Chakra has shown during Paris Couture Fashion Week - but, he's also dressed Beyonce. Somewhere in between lies the confusing and reoccuring tagline name of House of Dereon - he can still do what he wants.]
When did George Chakra began showing at the tents?
[Chakra debuted his FW09 bevy at the tents last February, but at some point in time, an intern probably skipped over adding him to the mainstream list, right?]
How did that happen?
[Well, duh. I said he was a couturier.]
And, of course:
Where is the clip of Chakra's past season's clothing being shown in The Devil Wears Prada?
[This remains unanswered.]
Overall, the collection showed extremely detailed accents through cocktail dresses and gowns, differentiating each garment from front to back.
