Most of the colors in the palette have a strong, almost glittery shimmer to them which is typical of Stila eye color and makes it easy to transition the colors from day to evening by blending the darker shades (moss, juniper, or bark) on the lid and keeping a hint of the lighter shades (honey, bronze or sage) above the crease and along the outer edge of the eye. For those that are challenged in eyeshadow application or unaware of how to create “the look” (don’t worry, this is more common than you may think!) the palette also includes a purse-sized how-to booklet that details several expertly-designed looks from "Garden Soiree" (a blend of nectar, sage, moss and wet juniper along lash lines), to "Enchanted Eye" (a colorful look of chinois, breeze, rosetta and freesia), and "Eye Catching" (nectar, breeze, bark, and wet freesia along lash line).
Stila eyeshadow is smooth and doesn't crumble, flake, or smudge thus requiring a complete re-do of your look. When it’s time for a re-application it's because the previous application has simply faded away after hours of wear. Glam Damn It loves Stila's "In the Garden" eyeshadow for the same reason we find ourselves frequent enthusiasts of the entire brand: soft, girly colors that go on light but have staying power even in the hot heat of summertime subway rides and pavement pounding. Yes, please!
