Haute off the press and coming our way this January is Jason Wu’s newest collaboration with Nordstrom. Word on the street is that this contemporary line will be in the $195-$1,700 price range. The collection will be 40 pieces consisting of shift skirts, a-line dresses, striped tops with floral skirts, and lighthearted touches to trench coats. The collection was inspired by the Mod fashion of the '60s --think Jane Birkin and Marianne Faithfull.

The 29-year-old explains his inspiration behind this collection and its character as a whole clothing line, “Instead of just doing ‘Jason Wu-for-less,’ the idea is to explore the other side of myself, I always see Jason Wu [the collection] as my aesthetic, my design sensibility. Miss Wu is my personality. [I] explore that facet of who I am- slightly more downtown, and with a more relaxed attitude.” (WWD

What becomes so intriguing about this line, however, is the fact that it is contemporary and very girly --two adjectives rarely seen in the same sentence in the fashion world where contemporary RTW is usually associated with a rock-chic look and lots of black and studs. With this new collaboration, Jason Wu will not only be extending his designs to a larger market, but he will also be extending the style of designs associated with the brand.

Though we haven’t gotten the full scoop on what all 40 pieces are supposed to look like, the sneak peeks we’ve gotten so far are leaving us rather intrigued!

Expect the line this holiday season in more than 49 Nordstrom’s stores nationwide and if you can’t make it to one of the retailers, shop the looks on the Nordstrom webstore!
