Redefining luxury travel takes work. So suffice to say international hotelier, Vikram Chatwal is a busy man. Not too busy to privately fly tabloid impresario, Lindsey Lohan, to his modernistic midtown palace this past April however. After staking claim to Hollywood hotties like Gisele and Kate Moss in the past, Chatwal has reportedly been using the "Do Not Disturb" sign with LiLo these days--if you know what we mean.
Well, if it's Lindsey's any indication, Chatwal knows hot. The American hotelier, has just put the finishing touches on his second New York City project, DREAM Downtown, the latest in his internationally acclaimed, five-star boutique hotel group, which spans five global cities. The Dream bundle, which serves transient, posh populations of Cochin, India, Bangkok, Thailand, South Beach, Midtown, and as of this evening, Downtown Manhattan, has become synonymous surreal luxury--a state-of-art imaginative and entirely unique experience.
Chatwal makes his debut for the "I don't go north of 14th street people" (well, kind of. 16th street, close enough) with DREAM Downtown tonight at 9:30, foraying into the south with an exclusive, invite-only Grand Opening ball. This evening commences a week of openings for Chatwel's downtown DREAM. A lobby restaurant, lounge, and bar (June 20), an outdoor pool (& the views are rumored to be no joke), and a beach club and rooftop restaurant are all scheduled to unveil June 20.
If that wasn't enough, Romera New York, a 65-seat-high concept restaurant led by acclaimed Spanish chef, Dr. Miguel Sanchez Romera (whose resume shares the rare combination of neurologist and chef to "the most unique cuisine in the world") has left Spain for the Apple, and will be opening Romera in September, 2011. Guests who stay in the loft-inspired accommodations, on the 350-thread count Egyptian Cotton linens, amid the I-pod compatible 40" Samsung TVs and wireless keyboards are guaranteed to feel one with "urban sophistication and intelligent luxury." Sophistication and luxury will be themes of tonight's Grand Opening as well. But if you find yourself uninvited to the big bash, take heart, and keep your eye on The Cheesegrader anyway. For considering Chatwal's romantic history, the guestlist will surely be a dream.
