Located way deep on the southwestern fringes of Manhattan, Sway is almost impossible to find and it is highly likely that those behind the scenes at this hipper-than-thou lounge are quite happy to keep it that way. The neon lights on the outside of the building glow “McGoverns Tavern,” giving the impression that nothing more lies beyond the door than free-flowing Guiness and talk of the old country. This couldnÂ't be further from the truth, for Sway is one of the hottest nightspots in town and can be very difficult to get into, especially between 1 and 2 a.m. But those lucky enough to pass the velvet rope test will be enticed by the sexy velvet banquette sofas and curtains, dim candlelight, and gorgeous Middle Eastern ceiling lamps and wall art. Bud Light bottles are served to you by struggling musician barstaff. It's most known for its 80's-happy DJing and Sunday night's Smiths/Morrissey fest, but Monday nights are still a draw for the hipper Soho crowds.
